Now let's start with my little spanish 2006 christmass update.
And we start with the last drawing of my little "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children" fanarts series. And who better to finish it than with Sephiroth?
Nomura didn't made any major changes in his design. He just added some more belts (it was either this or more zippers or chains) in the lower part of his raincoat. But that's OK, since Sephiroth's original design was practically flawless. The fact that so many people have imitate it so many times in videogames (even Nomura himself have tried to reinvent it several times. Riku, Ansem, Xemnas, anyone?) is proof enough for that.
Sephiroth in the movie was... well... just for the sake of being there and seeing him fighting his ass off with Cloud. He says some cool phrases, but deep inside that's all there is to it... Oh, well, at least he had some cool voice acting, both in japanish and english. And in "Kingdom Hearts 2" he had some cool voice acting in spanish too (eventhough a little monotonus). Let's see how it turns in the spanish version of the film, that will be released in Spain next february, 20th (Way to go Sony. That's only more than a year and a half later!)
I started the drawing before I moved to Germany, but only the scketch. I waited almost 6 months before I decided to color it once and for all. The result is pretty nice, I think, eventhough it's actually pretty flawed. Proportions, FOR ONCE!, are OK, except for the hands and that the feet are again out of the paper, this last one making look the legs weird. I like how the hair and the face look, eventhough I would have liked to make his eyes look a little more... well... evil. And Masamune (Sephiroth's sword) looks pretty good too.
I had to edit it a little bit with Photoshop CS2, since colors in the scan looked pretty poor. I had to increased them to make them look like the original, but the skin looks lighter. And I took the chance to fix a couple of mistakes I made when I inked it. Those flaws were in the lips and in the edge of the sword.
Well, here it is. I think I'm done with FF VII for the time being. Tomorrow, on Christmass Eve I will put 4 drawings that, for a very long time now, won't be fanarts, but characters that I made up myself.
As always, comments and constructive critics are all welcome.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
